Chewing is a very natural activity for a dog. As puppies, they chew to relieve pain from their baby teeth. Dogs chew because it's fun, mentally stimulating and it's a way for their teeth and gums to stay health and strong. So make you give your dog appropriate chew toys or bully sticks and pigs ears to encourage them to chew what you want them to chew. Also, keep in mind, that toys are thought of as exercise for their minds. Remember, dogs can chew out of boredom, so giving your dog an interactive toy, such as a kong with treats inside, can help teach what is good for him to chew on. Also, you may consider a spray deterrent, such as a bitter spray to put on objects your dog is chewing but shouldn't be chewing, such as your hand.
